Job summary

The State of Ohio – Bureau of Motor Vehicles remittance unit seeks a Customer Service Assistant 2 to handle in-depth inquiries related to vehicle registration, provide information to customers and agencies, and process registrations. Location is Columbus with standard weekday hours and OCSEA union involvement.

Ideal candidates have 9 months of related office and customer service experience and be proficient with data entry and PC operations.

Qualifications

  • 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures.
  • AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service that included techniques for handling difficult people;
  • AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in typing, keyboarding, data entry or word processing;
  • AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operation of personal computer.
  • -Or equivalent of Minimum Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to inquiries, requests for information &/or complaints that require in-depth knowledge of applicable laws, rules, policies & procedures as they pertain in given situation.
  • Respond to telephone &/or written inquiries in a professional & timely manner;
  • Process request for items related to vehicle registration;
  • Provide assistance & information to customers, business people, government agencies & the general public in reference to vehicle registration;
  • Respond to requests & inquiries received via telephone & U.S. mail in response to applications that may have been rejected due to incomplete information or monies received;
  • Operate personal computer by key entering information into computer file to generate a registration.

What You'll Do as a Customer Service Assistant 2

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS

May be confined to desk answering telephone for 6.5 – 7 hours per day; may work second or third shift & weekends in units with 24 hour/7 days per week operations.
