Job summary

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Office of Vehicle Services/Dealer Licensing seeks a Customer Service Assistant 3. The role includes handling inquiries with in-depth knowledge of laws and policies, greeting customers in person, on the phone, and in writing, and ensuring timely, accurate responses. It is currently remote but may shift to in-office.

Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with full-time status and Union OCSEA.

Qualifications

• 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures
• 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service
• 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in state/federal laws, rules & policies
• 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in typing/keyboarding/data entry
• 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operation of a personal computer

Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries and complaints requiring knowledge of laws, rules, and procedures
• Greet and respond to in-person, phone, and written inquiries professionally and timely
• Listen to questions or concerns and ask follow-ups to verify understanding
• Provide accurate responses or commit to a response date
• Follow-up to ensure all questions are answered

What You'll Do As a Customer Service Assistant 3

• Respond to inquiries, requests for information &/or complaints that require in-depth knowledge of applicable laws, rules, policies & procedures as they pertain to a given situation:
• Greet & respond to in-person, telephone &/or written inquiries in a professional, courteous, friendly, respectful & timely manner to ensure positive internal/external customer service;
• Listen carefully to internal/external customer's questions &/or concerns & ask appropriate follow-up questions to verify understanding;
• Provide a complete, knowledgeable, accurate, precise response immediately or provide a firm commitment as to when a response will be provided;
• Follow-up to ensure all of the customer's questions &/or concerns have been thoroughly answered.

Option 1

• 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures of which 3 mos. involved operation of various office equipment;
• AND 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service to include techniques for dealing with difficult people;
• AND 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in state &/or federal laws, rules, policies & procedures applicable to assigned inquiries, requests, complaints &/or transactions to be processed;
• AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in typing, keyboarding, data entry, or word processing;
• AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operation of personal computer.
