County Traffic Engineer

County Traffic Engineer Job Summary
- Pay: $55.00 per hour
- Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct traffic studies to analyze patterns, congestion, and safety concerns.
- Develop and implement traffic engineering solutions, including signal and roadway design.
- Manage traffic engineering projects to meet regulatory standards and timelines.
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, and stakeholders to develop transportation plans.
- Communicate with the public and stakeholders to gather input and provide updates.
- Ensure all engineering solutions comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports on traffic studies, project progress, and recommendations.
- Review land development proposals from a traffic impact perspective.
- Supervise traffic signal design, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Prepare and manage the division’s budget to ensure cost control.
- Recommend capital improvement projects for the County’s transportation systems.
- Provide guidance on policy development for transportation regulations.
- Coordinate with transportation agencies such as MPO, FDOT, and regional planning councils.
- Supervise and evaluate employees, ensuring a positive work environment.
- Participate in transportation-related committees (MPO, TAC, etc.).
County Traffic Engineer Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with at least five years of experience in traffic engineering. A master’s degree may substitute one year of experience.
- Licensure: Must possess a valid Class E Florida Driver’s License. Professional Engineer registration in Florida is required or the ability to obtain registration through reciprocity within six months.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of traffic engineering principles and regulatory compliance.
- Proficient in traffic control plan design (signals, signage, detours).
- Ability to analyze complex traffic issues and implement solutions.
- Skilled in traffic engineering software and applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with government agencies, the public, and stakeholders.
