County Traffic Engineer

Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a local government agency in Vero Beach, FL, is seeking a County Traffic Engineer to join their team! This position offers a competitive hourly rate and a range of perks designed to support your well-being and career growth.

County Traffic Engineer Job Summary

• Pay: $55.00 per hour
• Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct traffic studies to analyze patterns, congestion, and safety concerns.
2. Develop and implement traffic engineering solutions, including signal and roadway design.
3. Manage traffic engineering projects to meet regulatory standards and timelines.
4. Collaborate with engineers, planners, and stakeholders to develop transportation plans.
5. Communicate with the public and stakeholders to gather input and provide updates.
6. Ensure all engineering solutions comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
7. Prepare detailed reports on traffic studies, project progress, and recommendations.
8. Review land development proposals from a traffic impact perspective.
9. Supervise traffic signal design, maintenance, and upgrades.
10. Prepare and manage the division’s budget to ensure cost control.
11. Recommend capital improvement projects for the County’s transportation systems.
12. Provide guidance on policy development for transportation regulations.
13. Coordinate with transportation agencies such as MPO, FDOT, and regional planning councils.
14. Supervise and evaluate employees, ensuring a positive work environment.
15. Participate in transportation-related committees (MPO, TAC, etc.).

County Traffic Engineer Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with at least five years of experience in traffic engineering. A master’s degree may substitute one year of experience.
• Licensure: Must possess a valid Class E Florida Driver’s License. Professional Engineer registration in Florida is required or the ability to obtain registration through reciprocity within six months.
• Skills:

• Strong knowledge of traffic engineering principles and regulatory compliance.
• Proficient in traffic control plan design (signals, signage, detours).
• Ability to analyze complex traffic issues and implement solutions.
• Skilled in traffic engineering software and applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with government agencies, the public, and stakeholders.
