Purpose:

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is internationally recognized for its leadership in cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment. It is the region's only comprehensive cancer center designated by the National Cancer Institute.

We are currently hiring a Professional Staff Nurse, ONC (RN) to float between our Medical Oncology offices in the greater Pittsburgh, PA area, including UPMC Washington in Washington, PA, St. Clair in Upper St. Clair, PA, and our Steubenville office in Steubenville, OH. This position offers a $6,000 sign-on bonus and mileage reimbursement. The role involves working a regular full-time daylight schedule, Monday through Friday, floating between offices as a Treatment/Infusion nurse.

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse responsible for setting standards for care quality. The nurse manages and provides patient care activities, utilizing independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with team members. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision, establishing and maintaining relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The nurse also demonstrates a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in quality improvement efforts, identify opportunities for enhancement, and utilize research and evidence-based practices to improve clinical care and patient satisfaction.
• Engage in professional development, participate in shared governance, and support change initiatives to improve care quality and the practice environment.
• Build productive relationships internally and externally, demonstrating accountability, enthusiasm, and cultural sensitivity. Maintain work-life balance and communicate safety concerns.
• Apply adult learning principles to educate patients, families, and staff, supporting development and providing effective guidance through care episodes. May serve as a preceptor and foster an environment of open dialogue and continuous improvement.
