Job summary

Thompson is seeking a Professional Mentor in the Friends of the Children-Charlotte program to provide long-term mentorship to female youth in the school, home, and community settings. You will build relationships with caregivers and partners, documenting outcomes and coordinating resources for the whole family.

The role follows a non-traditional schedule with hours around 11 am–7 pm and some Saturdays/evenings, serving youth within a 30-mile radius of Charlotte.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and minimum 1 year experience working with children OR Associate's degree and minimum 3 years' experience working with children.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong relational skills.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and meet credentialing/licensing standards for the department.
• Candidates must pass a drug screening and extensive background check.

Responsibilities

• Teach life skills to youth according to our National program model.
• Provide long-term mentorship to 8-12 female youth in school, home, and community settings (16 hours/month).
• Document goal-focused outings, hours served, and contacts with families, teachers, and youth.
