Job summary

Alteva RCM is seeking a skilled Professional Coder to accurately review clinical documentation and assign CPT/ICD-10-CM codes for professional services across multiple specialties. The role emphasizes adherence to coding guidelines, payer rules, and compliance to optimize revenue cycle performance and minimize denials.

Candidates should have AHIMA/AAPC credentials, at least 3 years of coding experience, and strong knowledge of CPT/ICD-10-CM, Medicare/Medicaid policies.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credential required and in good standing (e.g., CPC, CCS).
• Minimum 3 years hands-on physician/professional services coding across specialties.
• Proficient knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, and Medicare/Medicaid policies.
• Experience using encoder tools and queue-based workflows.
• Proficiency with Excel/Word; ability to analyze data and generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and assign diagnosis and procedure codes per guidelines and payer requirements.
• Code tickets accurately and timely to support clean claims and reimbursement.
• Research and resolve coding scenarios, including payer edits and documentation questions.
• Meet daily productivity targets and maintain coding quality.
• Communicate coding issues to Lead Medical Coder/Manager; escalate complex cases as needed.
• Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and payer policies; credential in good standing.
• Participate in department meetings and expand skills to additional specialties as needed.
