Job summary

Alteva RCM is seeking a Professional Coder to accurately review clinical documentation and assign diagnosis and CPT codes for professional services across specialties. You will ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and timely reimbursement while supporting revenue cycle performance.

You will research payer-specific edits, participate in ongoing education, and meet daily productivity targets in a collaborative environment. Strong communication and multi-tasking are essential in this fast-paced role.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credential with active standing.
• 3+ years of physician/professional services coding across specialties.
• Know CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifiers and Medicare/Medicaid policies.
• High School diploma required; associate/bachelor preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; reporting tools preferred.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience coding across multiple specialties and service lines.
• Experience using encoder tools and queue-based workflow systems.
• Participation in coding audits or denial prevention preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and assign diagnosis and procedure codes per guidelines and payer rules.
• Code tickets accurately and quickly to support clean claim submission and reimbursement.
• Research and resolve coding scenarios, including payer edits and documentation questions.
• Meet daily productivity targets and maintain coding quality.
• Communicate issues and risks to Lead Medical Coder or Coding Manager.
• Escalate complex cases through established workflows for timely resolution.
• Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and payer policies; credentials in good standing.
• Participate in education and expand skills as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
