Role Overview

The Provider Practice Coding Consultant plays a vital role in medical coding. You will provide consulting and educational support, guiding healthcare professionals on coding practices, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance and quality in hospitals and care settings.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes (CPT, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10 procedures, HCPCS).
• Conduct data quality reviews for compliance with coding guidelines.
• Communicate professionally with team members and healthcare staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues.
• Identify documentation and coding improvement opportunities.
• Use VPN for remote task completion.
• Promote compliance and operational efficiency according to company policies.
• Maintain professional credentials through continuing education.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of coding experience.
• AHIMA or AAPC certification (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, etc.).
• Strong communication skills and experience with remote work and software tools.
• Ability to pass annual HIPAA and other testing requirements.
