Role: Provider Practice Coding Consultant

This role allows you to impact medical coding significantly by providing consulting services and educational support to healthcare professionals. You'll collaborate with clients and healthcare leaders, identify solutions, and ensure compliance and quality in coding practices across hospitals and care settings.

Responsibilities:

1. Review medical records and assign accurate codes (CPT, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10 procedures, HCPCS).
2. Conduct data quality reviews for compliance with coding guidelines.
3. Communicate professionally with team members, management, and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues.
4. Identify documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues.
5. Use VPN access to complete tasks productively and flexibly.
6. Uphold company policies, promoting compliance and operational efficiency.
7. Maintain professional credentials through continuing education credits.
8. Attend mandatory training and educational meetings to stay aligned with industry best practices.
9. Adhere to the AHIMA code of ethics, maintaining professional standards and integrity.

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of coding experience.
• AHIMA (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, CRC) certification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, remote work proficiency, and strong time management.
• Experience with encoding and abstracting software.
• Must pass annual HIPAA and other related testing.
