Role Overview

The Provider Practice Coding Consultant is vital in medical coding, offering consulting and educational support to healthcare professionals. You will collaborate with clients and healthcare leaders to improve coding practices, ensure compliance, and optimize outcomes in hospitals and care settings.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes (CPT, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS).
• Conduct data quality reviews for compliance with coding guidelines.
• Communicate professionally with team members and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues.
• Identify documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues.
• Use VPN for flexible and productive work.
• Maintain compliance with policies and pursue ongoing education.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of coding experience.
• AHIMA or AAPC certified credentials (e.g., RHIT, CCS, CPC).
• Strong communication skills and experience with remote work.
• Experience with encoding and abstracting software.
• Ability to pass annual HIPAA and other testing requirements.
