Job summary

Ventura Foods in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Group Leader to set up, inspect, operate, monitor and clean production equipment to deliver high-quality products while minimizing waste. You will lead line personnel, coordinate daily activities with supervisors, and support the production department leadership.

You will enforce GMP, SOPs, FSMA compliance, and safety standards, review process reports, perform startup checks, train new hires, and ensure reliable line performance across B&L, oils, and

Qualifications

• Reading and math skills are required.
• Must be computer literate.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to interpret and relay information effectively; problem solving and decision making skills.
• Ability to coach and work cooperatively with all employees.
• Must identify and report food safety and food security concerns.

Responsibilities

• Lead production line personnel; provide guidance and leadership to complete tasks.
• Coordinate daily activities with the Processing Supervisor across departments.
• Ensure safety, GMPs, SOPs, process safety, and FSMA compliance; address issues with supervisors.
• Monitor and document process and packaging reports; trigger corrective actions as needed.
• Perform startup checks and minor equipment adjustments; inspect equipment pre-operation.
• Train and evaluate new hires and temporary staff; cover shifts as needed.
• Identify root causes and implement corrective actions; report repairs to the Supervisor.
