Job summary

Timberline Manufacturing in Marion, IA, seeks an experienced Team Lead to supervise a production work center. You will assign tasks, prep and set up jobs, partner with Scheduling and Production to meet schedules, and mentor employee-owners.

You will monitor quality, time, and efficiency, communicate issues promptly, participate in new product development, and uphold company policies while coaching team members toward growth.

Qualifications

  • Leadership experience leading teams on a production floor.
  • Excellent communication with employee-owners, leads, and supervisors.
  • Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical capability to lift 50 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Assign team members tasks within the production work center.
  • Prep and set up jobs as scheduled on the board, ensuring readiness.
  • Coordinate with Scheduling and Production Supervisor to meet schedules.
  • Communicate issues impacting planned work in a timely manner.
  • Review Quality data to align with quality policies.
  • Make decisions aligned with company goals and policies.
  • Participate in NPD (new product development).
  • Monitor job times, indirect hours and efficiencies.
  • Generate work orders for equipment repairs within the work center.
  • Monitor inventory sign-out sheets.
  • Ensure proper training per the training plan for new team members.
  • Evaluate performance with Production Management and HR.
  • Mentor/coach employee-owners for growth.

Primary Responsibility: Effectively lead fellow team members within the department.

Primary Duties:
  • Assign Team Members tasks associated with a production work center
  • Prep and set up jobs as scheduled on the board. For example, team member is close to completing a job. The next job that they are to begin work on will be ready to go. All paperwork has been reviewed, material is ready for them to begin work. All prep or set up work should be done by the Team Lead
  • Work with Scheduling and Production Supervisor to ensure schedules can be met
  • Communicate issues that may prevent the successful completion of planned work in an effective and timely manner
  • Review Quality data to ensure work being done is in line with company Quality Policies
  • Make decisions that are associated with overall goals and objectives as stated in our company policies and as directed by Management
  • Participate in NPD
  • Monitor job times, indirect hours and efficiencies
  • Generate work orders for equipment repairs within the work center
  • Monitor inventory sign out sheets
  • Ensure proper training as outlined in training plan for new team member
  • Evaluate the performance of team members along with Production Management and HR
  • Mentor/coach employee owners with job related issues and personal growth.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Must have strong communication skills to communicate with other employee owners, team leads, and production supervisors.
  • Previous leadership experiences is a plus
  • Computer experience is a plus
  • Highly organized with ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Must have a positive attitude with a customer appreciation mentality
  • Ability to lift 50lbs on a regular basis
