Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Oak Creek, WI seeks an Assembly Supervisor to lead the on-site team responsible for maintenance of way equipment assembly. You will supervise daily activities, optimize labor, drive safety and quality, and coordinate with Engineering and Materials teams to meet delivery goals.

The role requires supervisory experience, mechanical/electrical/hydraulic background, and strong project-management skills with a focus on continuous improvement and LEAN practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or five years manufacturing experience.
• 1–3 years supervisory and project-management experience in a team-based environment.
• Manufacturing experience with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic background.
• Project management experience.
• Knowledge of tool functions.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• ERP system experience (Syspro).
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships and confidentiality.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Ability to solve practical problems and adapt in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to influence people and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure employees follow manufacturing, equipment and safety procedures to produce reliable results.
• Direct production personnel and material flow to meet delivery, quality, cost and safety goals.
• Lead quality processes aligned with high product standards.
• Work with leads on assembly issues and escalation plans.
• Schedule work assignments and hours to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
• Use MRP system to track missing parts.
• Collaborate with other departments to optimize production and labor utilization.
• Conduct regular meetings with production supervisors and leads.
• Complete reports and records accurately for labor hours and transactions.
• Participate in selecting new team members; mentor and counsel employees; enforce policies.
• Manage special projects (NIT builds, complex REMAN/REPAIR) within schedule and cost.
• Coordinate with Design Eng and Procurement as needed; assist design engineers with solutions.
• Facilitate GEMBA walks and drive countermeasures; report on ops metrics.
• Advance LEAN practices on the shop floor (5S, single-piece flow, Kaizen, standard work).
• Lead safety initiatives and foster continuous improvement culture.
• Promote safety and ensure operations meet customer requirements.
