Job summary

Wabtec is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead our Assembly team in Wisconsin. You will supervise assembly staff, plan schedules, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards while optimizing labor use.

You will coordinate with design and procurement on projects and drive continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor. You will oversee LEAN practices, GEMBA walks, and cross-functional collaboration to meet Delivery, Quality, Cost and Safety objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or 5 years manufacturing experience.
• 1–3 years supervisory and project-management experience in a team-based CI manufacturing environment.
• Manufacturing experience with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic background.
• Experience with ERP systems (Syspro) and MS Office.
• Knowledge of tool functions and ability to learn new tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
• Strong problem-solving skills and practical thinking.
• Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise work activities of assembly employees, including assignments and hours.
• Direct production personnel and material flow to meet Delivery, Quality, Cost and Safety goals.
• Lead quality processes to align with Nordco's high-quality image.
• Coordinate with Leads on assembly issues and escalations.
• Schedule work to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
• Use the MRP system to track parts and locate missing items.
• Collaborate with other departments to optimize production resources.
• Meet with Production Supervisors and Leads to ensure continuity.
• Complete reports and maintain accurate labor hour records.
• Participate in selecting and mentoring new team members; enforce policies.
• Manage special projects within schedule and cost targets; coordinate with Design Eng.
• Assist Design Engineers with design-related solutions.
• Facilitate daily GEMBA walks; drive countermeasures and report on Operational Excellence metrics.
• Drive LEAN practices (5S, Single-Piece Flow, Kaizen, Standard Work).
• Lead safety initiatives and a culture of continuous improvement.
• Mentor and develop employees for performance and leadership.
• Promote safety and compliance with customer requirements.
