Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Primary Responsibilities

The Production Shop Floor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the shop floor, ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining quality standards, and managing production teams. This role requires a strong leader with excellent communication and organizational skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to foster a safe and productive work environment.

This work environment is dynamic and versatile, requiring adaptability as daily tasks and priorities may shift based on the evolving needs of the day. The ability to pivot and manage changing responsibilities is essential.

• Manage, train, and supervise teams of skilled trade production workers.
• Schedule and assign tasks to ensure optimal workflow and productivity.
• Monitor employee performance and provide feedback, coaching, and disciplinary action, as needed.
• Foster a positive attitude, serve as a role model, and demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Oversee daily production activities to ensure adherence to schedules and quality standards.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
• Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
• Conduct inspections and audits of the production process.
• Address and resolve quality issues promptly.
• Follow up on noncompliance, corrections, and solutions to nonconformance materials.
• Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Ensure safety through good housekeeping and daily shop walks, completing safety audits on schedule.
• Coordinate with procurement to order supplies and materials.
• Optimize resource allocation to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
• Document and report incidents, accidents, or equipment malfunctions.
• Identify and address roadblocks or inefficiencies with management.
• Oversee shop equipment maintenance and report issues.
• Notify management of manpower needs.
• Partner with HR to ensure policy adherence.
• Assist crews when short-staffed and ensure job books are up-to-date per ISO standards.

Required Skills

High school diploma and at least 3+ years of experience in manufacturing.
