Job summary

Sterling Technologies, Incorporated in Wixom is seeking a proactive Production Supervisor to lead our manufacturing operations in a Lean-driven environment. This role oversees the production of electrical wire harnesses, control panels, and PCBs, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have strong Lean Manufacturing knowledge, team leadership, and hands-on experience with electrical assembly processes.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or related field preferred but not required.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in electrical assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts.
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily production activities across wire harness, control panel, and PCB assembly lines.
  • Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing practices (5S, Kaizen, Visual Displays, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, etc.).
  • Monitor production KPIs (output, quality, downtime, scrap) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure materials and supplies are available for production as needed.
  • Develop and maintain the production schedule, ensuring deadlines are met and adjusting as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality procedures, and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to resolve production issues and optimize workflow.
  • Train and mentor production staff on standard work, safety, and Lean tools.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations for production staff, provide constructive feedback and identify areas for growth and development.
  • Maintain accurate records of production output, labor, and material usage.
  • Lead daily Gemba walks and participate in cross-functional improvement projects.
  • Assist in recruitment, hiring and training of new production staff members as needed

  • Train and mentor production staff on standard work, safety, and Lean tools.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations for production staff, provide constructive feedback and identify areas for growth and development.

  • Maintain accurate records of production output, labor, and material usage.

  • Lead daily Gemba walks and participate in cross-functional improvement projects.

  • Resolve personal issues by analyzing, investigating & identifying issues and recommending actions to the Director of Operations and Human Resources.

  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring and training of new production staff members as needed



Qualifications


  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.

  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in electrical assembly.

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.



Preferred Skills


  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Certification.

  • Experience with automated assembly equipment and testing tools.

  • Hands-on experience with ESD-safe practices and soldering techniques.



Working Conditions


  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, tools, and electrical components.

  • Standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. may be required.

  • Use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
