Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead a team of 25-30 manufacturing employees through Production Leads in a high-mix, low-volume production environment. This role is ideal for a leader who combines strong mechanical aptitude with proven people-management skills.

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor will oversee assembly, testing, repair, overhaul, and aftermarket service operations while ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives are achieved. The successful candidate will be a visible floor leader who earns credibility through technical knowledge while driving accountability and performance across the team.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 25-30 production employees through Production Leads.
  • Manage hiring, onboarding, training, cross-training, performance evaluations, and employee development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.

Production Operations

  • Direct daily manufacturing activities to ensure on-time delivery, product quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee assembly and testing of complex mechanical systems and subassemblies in a custom manufacturing environment.
  • Monitor workflow, resource allocation, and production schedules to meet customer commitments.

Aftermarket Services & Repairs

  • Manage repair and overhaul operations, including labor and material estimates.
  • Support profitable aftermarket service activities through accurate quoting and operational execution.
  • Coordinate field service support, warranty activities, and customer repair requests.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Program Management teams to resolve production challenges and improve processes.
  • Identify and implement Lean manufacturing initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and throughput.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and internal quality standards.

Administrative & Operational Management

  • Maintain production records, ERP transactions, labor reporting, and employee timekeeping.
  • Monitor departmental expenses and support budget adherence.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance activities and facility support requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree, technical certificate, trade school education, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment producing mechanical equipment or devices.
  • Strong background in complex mechanical assembly operations.
  • Experience working in high-mix, low-volume, custom, or engineer-to-order manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person as defined by ITAR regulations (22 CFR 120.15); ability to obtain a DoD security clearance may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience manufacturing precision mechanical equipment, rotating equipment, pumps, valves, actuators, turbines, compressors, or similar products.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Lean Green Belt certification or demonstrated Lean implementation experience.
  • Experience within defense, aerospace, military, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with CSI ERP systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Base Salary: $85,000 - $100,000, depending on experience.

Work Schedule
  • Every other Friday off.
  • Typical hours: 5:45 AM - 3:15 PM.

This position is based in a manufacturing facility and includes time spent on the production floor, in warehouse areas, and in an office environment. The role requires regular interaction with machinery, mechanical equipment, and material handling equipment while adhering to established safety procedures.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Exposure to manufacturing conditions, including noise, fumes, and industrial equipment.
