Job summary

Sterling Technologies Inc. in Wixom, MI is seeking a proactive Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing operations in a Lean-driven environment.

You will oversee the production of electrical wire harnesses, control panels, and PCBs, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Lean principles, team leadership, and hands-on knowledge of electrical assembly processes.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelors in manufacturing or related field preferred but not required.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably electrical assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily production activities across wire harness, control panel, and PCB lines.
  • Implement Lean practices (5S, Kaizen, Kanban, VSM) to improve efficiency.
  • Track KPIs: output, quality, downtime, and scrap; drive improvements.
  • Manage inventory and ensure material availability for production.
  • Develop and maintain the production schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure safety, quality procedures, and customer specifications are met.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve issues.
  • Mentor staff on standard work, safety, and Lean tools.
  • Lead daily Gemba walks and support cross-functional projects.
  • Assist in recruitment, hiring, and training of new staff as needed.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Production Supervisor to lead our manufacturing operations in a Lean-driven environment. This role oversees the production of electrical wire harnesses, control panels, and PCBs, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Lean Manufacturing principles, team leadership, and technical knowledge of electrical assembly processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise daily production activities across wire harness, control panel, and PCB assembly lines.
  • Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing practices (5S, Kaizen, Visual Displays, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, etc.).
  • Monitor production KPIs (output, quality, downtime, scrap) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure that materials and supplies are available for production as needed.
  • Develop and maintain the production schedule, ensuring that deadlines are met and adjusting as necessary to meet changing demands.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality procedures, and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to resolve production issues and optimize workflow. Support new product introductions and process validations.
  • Train and mentor production staff on standard work, safety, and Lean tools.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations for production staff, provide constructive feedback and identify areas for growth and development.
  • Maintain accurate records of production output, labor, and material usage.
  • Lead daily Gemba walks and participate in cross-functional improvement projects.
  • Resolve personal issues by analyzing, investigating & identifying issues and recommending actions to the Director of Operations and Human Resources.
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring and training of new production staff members as needed
Qualifications:
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in electrical assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Certification.
  • Experience with automated assembly equipment and testing tools.
  • Hands-on experience with ESD-safe practices and soldering techniques.
Working Conditions:
  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, tools, and electrical components.
  • Standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. may be required.
  • Use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
