Job description

The incumbent is responsible for managing production efficiently through the direct supervision of the operations team, in order to meet the objectives of the plant, prioritizing SAFETY, QUALITY, SERVICE, and COST. The Production Supervisor is responsible for the entire facility during off shifts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Supervise production and maintenance activities to ensure that products meet or exceed all established quality requirements. Interpret specifications and make judgments regarding the acceptability of production in process. Determine production priorities based on weekly schedules and manage daily assignments.
  2. Manage all department-related activities, including selection, training, reviews, discipline, and safety for assigned staff. Develop and maintain an effective organization through effective direction, counseling, training, and motivation. Create Individual Development Plans (IDPs) to achieve short and long-term objectives.
  3. Provide leadership in ensuring employee physical well-being and safety by developing, promoting, and enforcing a safety-first attitude. Maintain a safety record that exceeds industry standards. Oversee manufacturing activities, including machines, spare parts, buildings, grounds, and repair activities, to meet customer schedules within quality and cost objectives.
  4. Develop and set goals and objectives aligned with department goals, holding staff accountable. Act as a mentor to generate enthusiasm and encourage seeking cost-effective design alternatives and processes.
  5. Maintain a high level of technical expertise in the production process. Understand system operations and ensure product compatibility. Measure success through on-time shipment performance, labor productivity, quality levels, and product cycle times.
  6. Understand Lean Manufacturing Principles (Kaizen, 5S, Pilot Projects) and support Continuous Improvement initiatives related to World Class Manufacturing (WCM).
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing process issues. Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering support as needed.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
  1. Associate’s degree in industrial, business, or related field; BS degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing experience, preferably in Glass Mat, Paper, or Non-Woven Industry.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Strong organizational skills, thorough, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  5. Ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and solve problems effectively.
  6. Ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team; demonstrate leadership through integrity, knowledge, and personal example.
  7. Familiarity with Enterprise Reporting systems; SAP ERP knowledge preferred.
