Job description

The incumbent is responsible for managing production efficiently through the direct supervision of the operations team, in order to meet the objectives of the plant, prioritizing SAFETY, QUALITY, SERVICE, and COST. The Production Supervisor is responsible for the entire facility during off-shifts.

Essential Functions:

1. Supervise production and maintenance activities to ensure products meet or exceed quality standards. Interpret specifications and make judgments on production acceptability. Manage weekly schedules and daily assignments based on priorities.
2. Manage department activities including staff selection, training, reviews, discipline, and safety. Develop and maintain an effective organization through counseling, training, motivation, and mentoring. Create IDPs to achieve short and long-term objectives.
3. Lead safety initiatives to promote employee well-being and enforce safety practices, aiming for a safety record that exceeds industry standards. Oversee manufacturing activities, including machines, spare parts, and facilities, to meet customer schedules within quality and cost targets.
4. Develop and set goals aligned with department objectives. Hold staff accountable and foster enthusiasm and continuous improvement through mentorship and cost-effective process innovations.
5. Maintain technical expertise in production processes, ensuring system compatibility and performance measurement through shipment on-time, labor productivity, quality, and cycle times.
6. Apply Lean Manufacturing Principles (Kaizen, 5S, Pilot Projects) and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives related to WCM.
7. Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing process issues, coordinating support from Maintenance and Engineering as needed.

Is this job for you?

1. Associate’s degree in industrial, business, or related field; BS degree preferred.
2. Minimum of three (3) years manufacturing experience, preferably in Glass Mat, Paper, or Non-Woven industries.
3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
4. Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
5. Analytical skills to evaluate information and solve problems effectively.
6. Leadership ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team with integrity and personal example.
7. Familiarity with Enterprise Reporting systems; SAP ERP preferred.
