Job summary

Reading Truck Group is seeking a production supervisor to oversee a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will execute the production plan, assign work, enforce policies, and drive improvements in methods, equipment, and procedures.

The role emphasizes leadership, coaching, and efficient operation, with responsibilities spanning hiring, training, and performance management. Occasional travel may be required as part of cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or at least two years of supervisory experience in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of production equipment, power tools, hand tools, tape measures and electrical tools.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency with LPCS/JDE and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises employees in production and executes the Production Plan.
  • Assigns work, enforces policies, and implements improvements in methods and procedures.
  • Monitors and improves efficiency, output, quality, and safety; collects and interprets data.
  • Provides leadership and training to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
  • Facilitates positive employee relations and coaching and development.
  • Manages interviewing, hiring, training, and performance appraisals; addresses complaints.
  • Communicates production status with other departments.
  • Ensures resources are available to perform jobs.
  • Supports the 6S program implementation and maintenance.
  • Submits requisitions for purchased items as required.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and projects; some travel may be required.

How You Will Make an Impact

Supervises employees in a production environment: Executes the Production Plan, assigns work, enforces policies, recommends and implements improvements in production methods, equipment, and operating procedures.

The Nuts and Bolts
  • Fosters an environment that enables customer satisfaction, both internally and externally.
  • Suggests, participates and supports continuous improvement activities.
  • Supervises department activities to ensure production objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Monitors and improves the efficiency, output, quality and safety of production processes through observations and measurements. Collects and interprets data from engineering and operations.
  • Demonstrates leadership and provides training to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
  • Fosters positive employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development.
  • Executes supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws; includes interviewing, hiring, and training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Communicates with other departments concerning production status.
  • Ensures that employees have appropriate resources to perform their jobs.
  • Facilitates the implementation and maintenance of the 6S program.
  • Submits requisition(s) for purchased items as required.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.

Required Credentials
  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree or at least two years of supervisory experience in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of production equipment, power tools, hand tools, tape measures and electrical tools.
