Job summary

6AM City, LLC seeks a Production Supervisor / Group Leader for our onsite machining facility. You will lead a team, ensure adherence to standard work, and drive SPQRCE priorities across Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment.

You will coordinate union relations, manage daily production plans, and mentor Team Leaders while advancing continuous improvement and lean initiatives for high-volume automotive components.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years as a supervisor in automotive/manufacturing.
  • Experience supervising union employees and labor agreements.
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving in production.
  • Experience with Kronos or similar timekeeping systems.
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.

Job Title: Production Supervisor / Group Leader


Job Description


The Production Supervisor / Group Leader oversees a team of manufacturing employees in an onsite machining facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role requires consistent application of national and local labor agreements, effective collaboration with union partners, and independent judgment within Global Manufacturing Systems, with a strong focus on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). The position offers the opportunity to learn new skills, influence the development of manufacturing processes, and contribute to the transition toward electric and autonomous vehicle production.


Responsibilities



  • Lead and supervise a group of production employees in a machining plant, ensuring adherence to established procedures and standard work practices.

  • Analyze and adjust daily manufacturing plans to meet production targets, manage manpower allocation, and respond quickly to issues to maintain continuous production flow.

  • Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, navigate ambiguity, and drive accountability through clear expectations, coaching, and follow‑up.

  • Oversee production activities including CNC machining operations for components such as cam shafts and connecting rods, ensuring processes run smoothly and efficiently.

  • Enforce quality processes with customer safety as the top priority, perform critical confirmations, and ensure compliance with all quality and regulatory requirements.

  • Drive built-in quality initiatives by using effective feedback and feedforward communication, promptly resolving discrepancies and non-conformances.

  • Apply Global Manufacturing Systems principles with a strong focus on SPQRCE (Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, Environment) in daily decision-making.

  • Coach and mentor team members and Team Leaders to build skills, reinforce standard work, and support professional growth.

  • Conduct disciplinary interviews when necessary, manage grievances, and work collaboratively with union representatives to resolve workplace issues.

  • Administer national and local labor agreements consistently and fairly in all aspects of supervision and workforce management.

  • Locate, interpret, and analyze operational data to support accountability, continuous improvement, and performance tracking.

  • Use data and root-cause analysis to troubleshoot basic machine issues and resolve employee-related performance or process problems.

  • Ensure accurate timekeeping and attendance management using Kronos or similar timekeeping systems.

  • Hold team members accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and adherence to plant policies and procedures.

  • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and open communication across shifts and departments to support operational excellence.

  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives aimed at reducing waste, improving responsiveness, and optimizing costs.


Essential Skills



  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Supervisor or Group Leader in a manufacturing environment, ideally within automotive or similar high-volume production.

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing union employees, including familiarity with union environments and labor agreements.

  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate employees in a production setting.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for employee issues and machine‑related problems.

  • Ability to hold team members accountable while maintaining fair and professional working relationships.

  • Evidence of strong job tenure, such as 4 or more years with a single employer demonstrating growth and progression.

  • Experience using Kronos or comparable timekeeping systems for attendance and workforce management.

  • Management and production supervision skills in a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of safety practices and the ability to prioritize and enforce safety in all operations.

  • Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing concepts.

  • Ability to work effectively in a unionized environment and collaborate with union partners.

  • Willingness and ability to work 2nd and 3rd shifts, including extended and weekend hours as required.
