12- Months‑position (May go longer)

Shift

Must be able to work all shifts. The position is not a rotating shift. Workers are required to arrive 30 minutes before the shift and stay 30 minutes after. Monday through Friday. Expect to work weekends every other week. Shift times: 2nd shift: 2:30 pm‑11:30 pm; 3rd shift: 10:30 pm‑7:30 am.

Job Responsibilities

• The Production Group Leader manages medium to large work teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Responsible for team safety, building and motivating teams, and delivering quality to customers.
• Promotes, educates, communicates, and follows up on safety initiatives and culture.
• Creates a highly engaged team.
• Supervises a medium/large team in a production environment.
• Ensures proper training, development, and evaluation of team members to promote highly effective teams.
• Leads Global Manufacturing Systems processes and supports launch and pilot activities.
• Improves body‑shop operations through problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintains good working relationships and communicates across all team members and departments.
• Achieves Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment key performance indicators supporting the Business, Plan, Deploy (BPD).
• Meets first‑time quality metrics and Built‑in‑Quality (BIQ) IV requirements.
• Completes administrative tasks such as timekeeping and maintains departmental records and reports.
• Meets production cost schedules by supporting Production’s ability to ‘Build in Station.’
• Has the ability to work any shift and overtime as required.
• Exhibits excellent organization, written and oral communication skills.
• Has foundational knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills.
• Can handle multiple priorities.
• Has the ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.

Qualifications

• Highest level of education required: High school or GED.
• Years of experience required: 6 to 9 years of practical experience. UAW experience is a plus and not a requirement.
• Technical: Experience working with CNC equipment and understanding electrical and mechanical processes. Solid examples in automotive manufacturing are required. Candidates with an engineering background are acceptable.
• Leadership: Examples of building teams and creating relationships within teams.

Nice to Have

• Understanding of Maximo and Kronos.
