We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to join a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This position will provide hands‑on leadership for production operations, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and on‑time delivery goals are consistently achieved.
About the Role
The Production Supervisor will lead and support a team of production employees, coordinate daily activities, address production issues, and work closely with maintenance, quality, engineering, and materials teams to keep operations running efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and motivate production employees to achieve daily safety, quality, and production objectives.
- Coordinate daily staffing, assignments, and workflow to meet production schedules.
- Monitor production performance, downtime, scrap, efficiency, and other key performance indicators.
- Ensure employees follow established work instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety requirements.
- Conduct startup meetings and communicate production priorities, schedule changes, quality concerns, and company expectations.
- Troubleshoot production issues and escalate equipment, quality, or process concerns as needed.
- Partner with Maintenance and Engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Work closely with Quality to identify and resolve defects, customer concerns, and process deviations.
- Ensure accurate production reporting, documentation, and communication between shifts.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity.
- Assist with employee training, onboarding, cross‑training, performance coaching, and development.
- Monitor attendance, work performance, and adherence to company policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
- Participate in root‑cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Production Management.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Automotive manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience leading production teams in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of safety, quality, productivity, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, production documentation, and process specifications.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Basic computer skills and experience with manufacturing or ERP/MES systems preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours or rotating shifts as required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with safety and quality systems such as ISO/IATF 16949.
- Experience with production metrics and KPIs.
- Previous experience leading 10-30+ hourly production employees.
