Shift Manager

As part of our Production team, a Shift Manager will lead our production operations team spanning multiple farms, and a packaging team on multiple shifts within our vertical farming facility. Each Shift Manager is responsible for a specific shift and owns driving execution of all production functions with a team of farm and/or pack operators. Take ownership of all aspects of production including team development, equipment understanding/readiness, sanitation, health & safety, food safety & quality, cost, and product yield.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

1. Drive Production KPIs, such as pruning or packaging speed, bruise rate, IPM task completion, cost reduction, increased yield, quality, and other key metrics contributing to team success measured in cost, quality and productivity.
2. Operate and troubleshoot new farming and/or packaging technologies.
3. Analyze real time reporting and data to interpret information to guide decision making.
4. Maintain shift peak performance by ensuring safety guidelines, IPM risk management, and sanitation adherence at all times.
5. Communicate promptly, effectively, and respectfully with all associates to ensure clear expectations and align any upcoming changes.
6. Work closely with cross functional partners such as maintenance to ensure cohesive operation.
7. Coordinate and troubleshoot with cross functional partners to resolve issues like system malfunctions, plant health, environmental issues, etc., escalating as necessary.
8. Serve as a people manager: direct work, provide feedback, evaluate, assign tasks, set goals, coach, resolve issues, and ensure staffing levels.

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 30 lbs
• Climb ladders, crouch, kneel, reach, stretch

• Must NOT be allergic to bees

What We Look For In a Shift Manager

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's preferred.
• 3+ years in farming, production, warehouse, or similar environment.
• 3+ years leading teams.
• Experience with automation, robotics, or large-scale equipment is a plus.
• Familiarity with tech like ConnectTeams, Google Suite, Slack, Asana.

Shift & Schedule

• Rotating shifts; current open shifts are day and night, Wed-Sat.
• May need to respond to emergencies or issues off hours.
