Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Production Operator is responsible for safely controlling various machines and equipment involved in production as well as gathering chemicals and materials required produce product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operates production machinery in accordance to standard operating procedures and specifications. Assigned machines may include hoists, mixers, mills, grinders and similar equipment
  • Follow standard operating procedure when setting up machine(s) and producing product
  • Produces the required quantity within established specifications and tolerances such as: proper film and/or lining, ply up of width and length
  • Maintain efficiencies to stay ahead of mixing schedule
  • Measure finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications
  • Maintains logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces
  • Inspect equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance
  • Verification of the production schedule to ensure proper settings of machine(s)
  • Learning and implementing all safety procedures
  • Learning and following all required safety checks
  • Use and follow mixing instructions designated by work order
  • Review and understand mixing schedule
  • Fill silos with proper ingredients
  • Ability to calculate various units of measure and fractions
  • Ensure materials are returned to appropriate location in warehouse on designated shelves by raw material code
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Preform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Working in an environment where various rubber, adhesives, grease, oils, carbon black, steam and industrial manufacturing machines are used is a requirement of this job role when working on projects

Education/Experience

  • Minimum High School education or equivalent – Required
  • Fork Lift license and certification - Preferred

  • Maintain high standard for personal and equipment sanitization methods and practices

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds minimum at a time
  • Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping

  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced
  • Understand units of measure in standard, metric, PSI and temperature
  • Comprehend information and ideas presented verbally or in writing
  • Use effective time management to ensure that tasks and projects are completed within agreed time limits
