Innovative Solutions & Support (IS&S) is a diversified international avionics supplier to civil, military, business, and commercial markets, and operators. IS&S manufactures a broad range of RVSM compliant Air Data Systems, Flat Panel Display Systems, Fuel quantity and flow measurement and Engine Hydraulic displays.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop, schedule, and implement all production activities for assigned product cell (e.g., Printed Circuit Board Assemblies, Flat Panel Displays, Air Data Products, Line Replaceable Units, etc.).
2. Ensure production is maintained in accordance with delivery schedules, engineering specifications, quality standards, expense budgets, employee safety and cost goals.
3. Coordinate with production planning and master scheduling to react to schedule changes.
4. Get assistance (Engineering, Purchasing, Planning, etc.) when required to ensure all goals are consistently achieved.
5. Coordinate day-to-day activities of assembler/solderers, equipment operators, test technicians and other assigned production personnel, including personnel supervision, work assignments, and coordination of the product flow through all production phases to completion.
6. Translate weekly and monthly schedules for product area into daily work assignments.
7. Report on daily production status.
8. Maintain, monitor, and drive improvement in all production metrics.
9. Accountable for department performance to these measures.
10. Involved in the development of new and existing production metrics.
11. Strive to continuously improve the function and operation of the department.
12. Promote teamwork within the department.
13. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
14. Promote employee acceptance of changes.
15. Ensure all manufacturing instructions are utilized by production employees.
16. Ensure all manufacturing, quality, safety, and materials processes are observed.
17. Ensure all equipment in the work area is handled and maintained properly.
18. Ensure production and other required paperwork is processed in a timely and accurate manner.
19. Perform data entry and inquiry of production information in MRP software.
20. Coordinate introduction into manufacturing of all major projects such as new products, major methods changes, automation, etc.
21. Monitor the skill level of production employees.
22. Responsible for training, qualifications, and certification of direct reports.
23. Determine where skill gaps exist and cross train individuals in department to close those gaps.
24. Conduct performance management of employees with the support of Human Resources and the VP of Operations.
25. Conduct disciplinary actions with the support of Human Resources and the VP of Operations.
26. Interview prospective employees.
27. Offer guidance and coaching to direct reports.

Requirements

Professional Requirements:

1. Associates degree or equivalent senior level experience.
2. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
3. Capability to lead in a team environment.
4. Direct knowledge of NetSuite system (or similar MRP) and supporting processes.
5. Good Problem solving, decision making, time-management and organizational skills.
6. Results oriented.
7. Requires complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general aspects and technical phases of the job (electro-mechanical assembly, blueprint reading, IPC-610 soldering, ISO 9000, etc.).
8. Basic computer skills and familiarity with office productivity software.
9. Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
10. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and demonstrated continuous improvement activities are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
2. Must pass an eye exam.
3. Capable of reading small print.
4. Ability to work with various hand tools and presses required.
5. Shift varies between standing, walking, reaching, sitting, bending, and lifting.
