Job description

Job Purpose

The Production Machine Operator is responsible for operating various production machines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operate all types of tools and machines necessary for the job, such as forming, punching, cutting, and other common sheet metal machines, including a variety of hand tools.
2. Use blueprints to select appropriate tooling and operate machinery to produce the required quality of product.
3. Utilize existing control programs on various machines to create parts.
4. Select the proper thickness and gauge of material as specified by shop documents.
5. Perform visual inspection of parts before and after each operation, following the required inspection procedures to ensure all parts meet quality standards.
6. Secure and band material together when transporting parts.
7. Understand the routing process and be able to retrieve/input information on a computer.
8. Perform all tasks safely, efficiently, and productively according to company policies.
9. Contribute to team efforts to produce quality products safely and efficiently.
10. Attend scheduled work hours regularly and punctually. Maintain good attendance.
11. Work mandatory overtime as required. Other duties may be assigned by the company.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent, based on experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

1. Ability to accurately use precision measuring equipment such as tape measures, micrometers, squares, and protractors.
2. Ability to read blueprints.
3. Basic math skills, including converting decimals to fractions and vice versa.
4. Ability to operate computerized, automated equipment.
