You will set up and operate various kinds of grinders for both production and tool work, with a focus on precision grinding techniques. Candidates must have at least three years of experience in production grinding, along with the ability to accurately set up and manage complex grinding jobs. This position involves handling export-restricted information, requiring all applicants to be U.S. citizens or lawful residents.

Qualifications

• Three years of production grinding experience including setup.
• Must be able to perform difficult grinding work on various grinders.
• Knowledge of setting up truing devices on thread grinding.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates various types of grinders for production and tool work.
• Grinds steps, tapers, recesses, shoulders, angles, contours, and threads.
• Selects appropriate speeds, feeds, and wheels for grinding.
• Select speeds, feeds and wheels; hold work to required tolerances.
• Setups are exacting, usually requiring firm and accurately set fixtures, rests or blocks.

Function/Program: Manufacturing

Work Performed

Sets up and operates internal, centerless, surface, external, thread and universal grinders for production, experimental, and tool work. Must be able and is required to perform any type of difficult grinding work on any and all types of grinders. Grinds steps, tapers, recesses, shoulders, angles, contours and threads. Must be able to set up truing devices on thread grinding for various types and forms of threads. Selects proper speeds, feeds, and wheels. Holds work to required tolerances. Setups are exacting, usually requiring firm and accurately set fixtures, rests or blocks.

Tools & Equipment Used

• All types of grinders, machinists’ hand tools, precision measuring instruments.

Experience & Other Requirements

Three years of production grinding experience including setup.
