Textron is seeking a Grinder Production (Machinist Intern) for the MTC 2nd shift in Fort Worth, TX. The role involves setting up and operating multiple grinder types to perform production and tool work with high-precision tolerances.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of production grinding experience or equivalent technical education, and are prepared to handle complex grinding tasks with various fixtures and measuring tools. This is an entry-level, full-time position on the 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates grinders for production, experimental, and tool work.
• Grinds steps, tapers, recesses, shoulders, angles, contours and threads.
• Sets up truing devices on thread grinding for various thread forms.
• Selects correct speeds, feeds and wheels for duties.
• Maintains required tolerances with fixtures, rests, or blocks.

Description

Work Performed:

Sets up and operates internal, centerless, surface, external, thread and universal grinders for production, experimental, and tool work. Must be able and is required to perform any type of difficult grinding work on any and all types of grinders. Grinds steps, tapers, recesses, shoulders, angles, contours, and threads. Must be able to set up truing devices on thread grinding for various types and forms of threads. Selects proper speeds, feeds, and wheels. Holds work for required tolerances. Setups are exacting, usually requiring firm and accurately set fixtures, rests or blocks. Will not be retained in this position longer than two (2) years.

Tools & Equipment Used:

All types of grinders, machinists’ hand tools, precision measuring instruments.

Two (2) years of production grinding experience or the equivalent technical education.
