Sets up and operates internal, centerless, surface, external, thread and universal grinders for production, experimental, and tool work. Must be able and is required to perform any type of difficult grinding work on any and all types of grinders. Grinds steps, tapers, recesses, shoulders, angles, contours, and threads. Must be able to set up truing devices on thread grinding for various types and forms of threads. Selects proper speeds, feeds, and wheels. Holds work for required tolerances. Setups are exacting, usually requiring firm and accurately set fixtures, rests or blocks. Will not be retained in this position longer than two (2) years.
All types of grinders, machinists’ hand tools, precision measuring instruments.
Two (2) years of production grinding experience or the equivalent technical education.
