Job summary

Cessna Aircraft Company is seeking a Grinder Production Intern for the MTC on the 2nd shift. You will set up and operate a range of grinders to produce precision parts for production and tool work, including complex contours and threads.

The role requires two years of production grinding experience or equivalent technical education, with strict adherence to tolerances and safety protocols in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of production grinding experience or the equivalent technical education.
• Ability to set up and operate multiple grinder types with precision and care.
• Must be able to perform difficult grinding tasks with accuracy and repeatability.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate internal, centerless, surface, external, thread and universal grinders for production, experimental, and tool work.
• Select speeds, feeds, and grinding wheels; hold tolerances with fixtures and blocks.
• grind steps, tapers, recesses, shoulders, angles, contours, and threads.
• Perform thread grinding setup and truing for various thread forms.
• Work on demanding setups; ensure fixtures and rests are accurately aligned.

Work Performed:

Sets up and operates internal, centerless, surface, external, thread and universal grinders for production, experimental, and tool work. Must be able and is required to perform any type of difficult grinding work on any and all types of grinders. Grinds steps, tapers, recesses, shoulders, angles, contours, and threads. Must be able to set up truing devices on thread grinding for various types and forms of threads. Selects proper speeds, feeds, and wheels. Holds work for required tolerances. Setups are exacting, usually requiring firm and accurately set fixtures, rests or blocks. Will not be retained in this position longer than two (2) years.

Tools & Equipment Used:

All types of grinders, machinists’ hand tools, precision measuring instruments.

Experience & Other Requirements:

Two (2) years of production grinding experience or the equivalent technical education.
