Job summary

Build is hiring an AI engineer to turn complex real estate workflows into reliable product experiences. You will ship production AI systems and work directly with customers, domain experts, and engineers to automate design, acquisitions, diligence, and planning processes.

You will own end-to-end features, design context-aware strategies, and build robust retrieval and tool-calling flows to support expert users. This role blends product engineering with applied AI in the built world.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship production AI workflows for real estate design, acquisitions, diligence, planning, and project execution.
• Work with customers and internal experts to map complex workflows into software with clear inputs, outputs, edge cases, and success criteria.
• Build agents that reason across documents, maps, financial models, and project history.
• Own full-stack features end-to-end from backend logic to user-facing surfaces.
• Design context strategies for agent use of documents, decisions, and constraints.
• Create robust retrieval, extraction, structured-output, and tool-calling flows.
• Develop evals for document understanding, grounded reasoning, and workflow completion.
• Inspect traces, debug failures, and turn customer feedback into improvements.
• Collaborate with AI and infrastructure teams to improve reliability and observability.
• Raise the product quality bar for inspectable, explainable AI systems.
