Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal, a global consulting firm, seeks an experienced PEPI engagement lead in San Francisco. The role focuses on software product and tech due diligence, post‑deal value creation and performance improvement for private equity portfolio companies.

You will work across pre‑deal to post‑deal workstreams, mentor junior staff, and interact with senior client leadership while traveling up to 75% of the time.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years consulting or relevant industry experience with focus on tech.
• Experience with private equity sponsors or transaction/tech due diligence (desired).
• Excellent oral and written communication for executive deliverables.
• Experience with business leaders and PE deal staff.
• Strong data gathering and analytical abilities.
• Background in software/product development or advisory at top firms.
• Ability to translate technical insights into commercial implications.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, Economics or similar.
• Willingness to travel at least 75% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Participate in target and client interviews and updates.
• Develop data request lists and coordinate with bankers and client.
• Analyze target data, both quantitative and qualitative.
• Summarize insights into client-ready exhibits and deliverables.
• Ensure deliverable quality and manage day-to-day relationships.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff.
