Job summary

Dorman Products is seeking a strategic Product Manager to steer a core product line from concept through lifecycle, driving profitability and market success. You will lead cross-functional teams across sales, engineering, and sourcing, shaping pricing, messaging, and go-to-market plans.

The role requires strong communication, collaboration with customers and internal teams, and the ability to navigate a manufacturing environment while delivering results on 12–24 month horizons.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Business or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in Product Management, Marketing, Product Engineering or Strategic sourcing with a focus on new product.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in manufacturing or distribution environment preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel ( PivotTables and VLOOKUPs ).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and control assigned product line from conception through product lifecycle.
  • Establish product road map and go-to-market strategy.
  • Define category pricing and add strategies.
  • Create and deliver engaging presentations to support selling.
  • Collaborate with customers and Tech Line; attend national tradeshows.
  • Drive profitability and budgets for product lines.
  • Mentor and educate Sales on product lines and updates.
  • Manage profitability for the assigned product line.

Job Summary

Plans, organizes, and controls assigned product line from conception through product life cycle for optimal profit and to achieve marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives. Drive business growth and performance at product category level; co-developing and co- leading/influencing customer, pricing, sourcing and service strategies. Directly/indirectly manage 1 to 5 cross-functional product teams. Actively think long-term strategy (12-24 months) and planning accordingly to sustain and drive initiatives to successful completion.

Primary Duties
  • Manages APMs and Coordinators
  • Establishes product road map, produce category and customer line reviews and go market strategy
  • Defines category pricing and add strategies
  • Defines market messages and ensures all marketing copy, product descriptions, etc. are correct and accurately reflect message and positions
  • Creates and delivers engaging presentations with influence to support selling
  • Performs pricing reviews
  • Sets forecast for new adds
  • Collaborates with customers and Tech Line
  • Attends national tradeshows
  • Proactively follows-up with account managers on a consistent basic
  • Establishes and drive project priorities
  • Maintains the pulse of the market and competitor landscape
  • Is recognized as a credible, marketplace Subject Matter Expert on the product line
  • Researches and stay informed of market and technology trends
  • Champions and advocates product lines
  • Supports Sales team through ongoing education, line reviews, and training
  • Creates and sets sample, Operating Income (OI) and New budgets for product lines
  • Manages profitability for assigned product line
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment is preferred.
  • Prior experience working and leading cross functional teams
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate at all levels of the organization and move projects through the organization with minimal direction
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite and specifically Excel including pivot tables and v-lookups
  • Must be willing to travel 10% of the time and occasional weekend responsibility
  • Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.
Education / Experience
  • B.S. degree in Business or minimum of 5 years work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Product Management, Marketing, Product Engineering or Strategic sourcing with a strong focus on new product

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity.
