Job summary

Openkrill is seeking a Data Scientist for Product Growth and Experimentation to drive PLG insights within Product and Engineering teams. You will illuminate the user journey from initial interest to adoption, surface onboarding friction, and evaluate interventions.

You will work with large and constrained data, apply causal methods, design experiments, and build reusable analytics assets. Strong communication and business judgment are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in statistics and experimental design.
• Experience using product, behavioral, or event data to improve activation, engagement, retention, or expansion.
• Ability to work with small samples, noisy signals, or imperfect control groups when standard A/B testing isn't possible.
• Excellent judgment in selecting methods that fit the decision, data, and uncertainty.

Responsibilities

• Act as an embedded Data partner to Product, Design, and Engineering to shape strategy, proposals, and experiments.
• Build analytical frameworks across the full PLG journey from acquisition to durability.
• Use funnel, cohort, journey, and sequence analysis to identify friction and opportunities.
• Identify behaviors and milestones that predict conversion and long-term customer success, translating them into leading indicators.
• Analyze feature discovery and adoption patterns to recommend interventions.
• Design and evaluate experiments using causal methods when A/B testing isn't practical.
• Clearly distinguish observed results from assumptions and quantify uncertainty.
• Help prioritize growth opportunities based on impact, confidence, effort, and measurement feasibility.
• Build reusable datasets, dashboards, and analytics tools for Product, Marketing, Sales, and leadership.
• Collaborate with Engineering to improve event instrumentation and data quality.
