Job summary

The Dixon Group in Chestertown, Maryland is seeking a Product Engineer to contribute to design input, approval of manufactured parts, and project management for continuous improvement. The successful candidate will use SolidWorks to design products and collaborate with engineering teammates to finalize drawings before production.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 1–3 years of engineering experience, strong problem‑solving and communication skills, and the

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 1–3 years engineering experience preferred.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation; strong fundamentals in mechanical design and statics.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with sales and customers to answer product questions and assist with new product requests.
• Use SolidWorks to design new products and analyze the function of existing products.
• Oversee the design of products and approve manufacturing drawings prior to production.
• Manage projects covering new product concepts, current product line expansions, cost reduction initiatives, and product improvements.
• Perform basic engineering calculations to ensure adequacy of a design.
• Create clear goals for design, process, and manufacturing teams to illustrate an acceptable part.
• Inspect and approve manufactured parts.
• Conduct analysis on returned customer parts.
• Perform product testing and failure analysis on returned and manufactured parts.
