Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 0–2 years of hands‑on design and project experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with fluid power, machine design, or industrial parts manufacturing.
  • High proficiency in SolidWorks and strong computer skills including MS Office.
  • Strong problem‑solving, detail orientation, and communication skills.
  • Self-starter who is motivated by making a tangible impact.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop innovative products from concept to completion.
  • Create detailed models and drawings using SolidWorks and review drawings for accuracy.
  • Perform engineering calculations (stress, heat transfer) for structural adequacy.
  • Conduct simulations and establish testing procedures.
  • Improve product cost, quality, and performance through applied engineering.
  • Analyze challenges and plan actionable steps based on data.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work.
  • Split time between design desk, test lab, and shop floor.

Product Design Engineer
Location: 153 Dixon Drive, Chestertown, MD 21620
Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Pay Range: $60 - $80/annually

The Dixon Group is looking for a Product Design Engineer to join our team in Chestertown, Maryland! We are seeking an innovative Product Design Engineer to research, design, and develop new products while working with cutting-edge

What You'll Do:
  • Design and develop innovative products and product families from concept to completion.
  • Create detailed models and drawings for new designs using SolidWorks, and thoroughly review drawings for accuracy and correctness.
  • Perform essential engineering calculations, such as stress analysis and heat transfer, to ensure the structural adequacy of designs.
  • Conduct simulations and establish comprehensive testing procedures.
  • Apply specialized engineering knowledge to continuously improve product cost, quality, and performance.
  • Analyze complex challenges and formulate clear, actionable plans based on available data.
  • Effectively manage, balance, and prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
  • Engage in hands‑on work, splitting time effectively between the design desk, the test lab, and the shop floor.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 0–2 years of hands‑on design and project experience. Previous experience or internships as a Design Engineer or Project Engineer is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with fluid power, machine design, or industrial parts manufacturing.
  • High proficiency in SolidWorks and strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent communication, organization, and time‑management abilities.
  • An enthusiastic, dedicated, and innovative team player.
