Job summary

Dixon Fire, a proud division of The Dixon Group, is seeking a CAD Drafter to join the engineering team at our Winchester, Virginia facility. You will apply mechanical engineering principles to design couplings, connections, valves, machines and their components, updating models and drawings as requested.

You will work closely with engineering and production to ensure manufacturability, select materials, and generate BOMs. Veterans are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
• Understanding of drawing standards and tolerancing methods.
• Familiarity with machine design details such as threads, nuts, bolts, and welds.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to quickly learn about new products and software.
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
• Ability to understand blueprint symbols.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
• Collaborate and communicate directly with engineers and production staff.
• Create assemblies and ensure the mechanical fit of all components.
• Coordinate the proper creation of item types, manufacturability requirements, and bills of materials.
• Self-check completed assignments and cross-check coworkers' completed assignments.
• Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to ensure product manufacturability.
• Select materials and calculate weights and volumes.
• Generate new designs from concept to completion while considering manufacturability and cost.
• Support standard products and perform special customer project work.
