Job summary

The Dixon Group in Chestertown, MD is seeking a Product Engineer to join our team. Location: Chestertown, Maryland. Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. Pay Range: $60,000 - $80,000 annually.

The successful candidate will handle product responsibilities including approval of manufactured parts, product design input and approval, and project management to aid Dixon’s continuous improvement. This role requires detailed engineering, solid communication, and hands-on problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 1–3 years of engineering experience.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation; strong fundamentals in mechanical design and statics.
• Excellent technical problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with sales and customers to answer product questions and assist with new product requests.
• Use SolidWorks to design new products and analyze the function of existing products.
• Oversee the design of products and work with a team of engineers to approve manufacturing drawings prior to production.
• Manage projects covering new product concepts, current product line expansions, cost reduction initiatives, and product improvements.
• Perform basic engineering calculations to ensure adequacy of a design.
• Create clear and measurable goals for the design team, process team, and manufacturing to effectively illustrate an acceptable part.
• Inspect and approve manufactured parts – both internally and externally manufactured.
• Conduct analysis on returned customer parts.
• Perform product testing and failure analysis on returned and manufactured parts.

What You'll Do:

What We're Looking For:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience: 1–3 years of engineering experience.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation; strong fundamentals in mechanical design and statics.
• Excellent technical problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Able to work in both independent and group settings effectively.
• Detail-oriented.
• Excellent project management and time management skills.
• Must be able and willing to work with hands if needed.
• Strong computer skills (proficient in all Microsoft Office applications).
• Proficient troubleshooting and data-interpretation abilities.
• Excellent organization and multi-tasking abilities.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• 1-2 years of experience in engineering is preferred, including experience in: Failure analysis, Manufacturing field decision making, Mechanical systems and/or processes, Design processes (including SolidWorks experience), and experience with product function.
