Job summary

Magna Mechatronics, Mirrors & Lighting in Michigan seeks a Product Engineer to lead product engineering activities from concept to production testing. You will manage DFMEA, DVP, BOMs, design reviews and tolerance stacks while guiding the design team with a focus on actuators.

Collaboration with EE and external resources is essential. The role emphasizes cost, schedule, and quality control, plus continuous improvement across products and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 2–5 years of experience.
• Ability to conceptualize, coordinate and integrate internal data, and clearly articulate concepts, ideas and other issues relating to product engineering.
• Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize and coordinate projects, with independent work ability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with internal and external contacts and represent the Company professionally.
• Must operate standard and specialized equipment/tools; knowledge of PCB concepts and connectors is helpful.
• Strong actuator knowledge preferred (DC motors, gear train); strong electrical knowledge to interface with EE team.

Responsibilities

• Defines scope, plans, organizes, leads, and directs technical work and departmental/team efforts related to product, process, tooling, testing, and materials as it relates to product engineering activities.
• Translates direction of technical work into specific plans of action and directs product engineering activities to production phase. Monitors costs, quality, timing, and budgetary requirements.
• Serves as a liaison and coordinates development activities of internal and external resources; provides problem-solving support to overcome obstacles.
• Participates in continuous improvement efforts; researches, recommends, and implements new or existing products, processes, materials, and equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
