Job Title: Product Development Coordinator

Purpose of Position/Summary:

The purpose of the Product Development Coordinator will be responsible for conveying to KYB Japan the new product opportunity needs of KYB Americas Corporation. This position will also be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of new product applications, meeting annual new application release goals, and communicating directly with engineering, technical and marketing teams in Japan. This position will be a direct liaison with KYB Japan to facilitate and oversee communications with the product development teams. The Product Development Coordinator will report directly to the Product Manager.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Product Research:

  • See that new product line opportunities, accounting for current consumer and industry trends, are identified and relayed to KYB Japan;
  • Work with Product Manager to discover if shocks, struts, Strut-Plus, mounts, boots, and other ride control parts for missing application coverages are available from other KYB global business units.

Product Development:

  • Act as liaison between KYB Americas Product Development team and KYB Japan to obtain required approvals and see that necessary protocols are followed;
  • Monitor progress of shock and strut development to ensure delivery schedules are met;
  • Escalate product development issues when required to ensure the correct developments are being prioritized and launch timelines are being met per market demand;
  • Facilitate product design improvement efforts with KYB Japan. Work to understand the root cause of customer or Product team concerns, and work with KYB Japan to brainstorm and implement continuous product improvements;
  • Assist with marketing projects to develop new print and digital materials;
  • Maintain participation and involvement in Industry associations to obtain competitor awareness. (i.e., M.A.P., ACPN);
  • Ability to travel both domestic and international;
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate Manager on an as needed basis.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in Business, Engineering or related field from an accredited institution is required. Three to four years of relevant experience may be substituted for a college degree. Engineering and project management knowledge is preferred. Automotive technical background, experience, and interest is preferred. Five years of automotive aftermarket experience, including but not limited to, parts distribution, sales and technical roles is preferred. Must possess strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills. Both written and oral Japanese is highly preferred. Proficient in using technology, including MS Office suite. Strong organizational and project management skills are required. This position requires the ability to prioritize various job duties/projects and work efficiently under time constraints independently without direct supervision.
