Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking a Produce Department Manager to implement company policies and drive maximum sales and profits in the produce department.

You will lead by example, foster relationships with customers and staff, and ensure pricing accuracy and proper display of products. You will supervise hiring and training, coordinate schedules for full- and part-time staff, and maintain clean, safe, and well-organized department operations.

Qualifications

• Flexible schedule including mornings, afternoons, evenings, or nights.
• Understanding of department operations (staffing, merchandising, inventory, shrink control, etc.).
• Ability to read scales and prices accurately.
• Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.

Responsibilities

• Develop maximum customer relations by lead by example with friendliness and courtesy, and implement company policies.
• Be alert and assist in store security.
• Handle customer complaints effectively.
• Oversee hiring, firing, disciplining, demotion, transfers and evaluations of produce department personnel.
• Provide training on price marking and customer courtesy to staff.
• Supervise all aspects of salad bar operations.
• Plan schedules for full- and part-time employees for efficiency.
• Maintain neat appearance and uniforms of department staff.
• Communicate effectively with store personnel.
• Direct produce department activities including receiving, storing, pricing and merchandising.
• Ensure adequate stock and proper ordering to maintain optimal inventories.
• Maintain records and prepare reports.
• Promote and implement company initiatives and process improvements to direct reports.
• Manage conflicts in a calm, professional manner.
