Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking a Produce Department team member to deliver outstanding customer service, maintain a safe and clean store environment, and drive department sales.

You will monitor all Produce duties, support associates, and uphold Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. Responsibilities include setting goals, training staff, executing promotions, managing inventory and pricing, and ensuring product quality and proper temperatures.

• Current food handlers permit once employed

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates with a positive attitude
• Communicate company, department, and job information to associates
• Set department performance goals and empower teammates to meet targets
• Develop scheduling to manage customer volume
• Train associates and participate in performance appraisals
• Provide customer service by answering product questions and locating items
• Inform customers of produce specials and offer samples
• Review products for quality and freshness and take action
• Create a department business plan to achieve results
• Coordinate sales promotions with store management
• Educate staff on promotions and seasonal plans
• Prepare seasonal critiques for the sales/merchandising supervisor
• Implement department promotional plans
• Assist with budget, expense control, and financial reporting
• Schedule price changes and maintain shelf signage
• Oversee inventory processes and CAO training
• Ensure proper temperatures and maintain temperature logs
• Enforce safety programs and report safety risks
• Report safety issues and any theft or fraud
• Adhere to laws and company guidelines
• Work cooperatively in fast-paced environments
• Manage conflicts constructively
• Maintain honesty and integrity in information
• Follow directions and seek help when needed
• Support and assist during interactions with minors, disabled individuals, or older adults
