Job summary

Amarillo College is seeking a Director of Purchasing & Records to lead the Purchasing Office and oversee the Records Retention Program. This role ensures supplies and services meet quality and cost objectives while aligning with the college mission.

The incumbent will develop policies, administer purchase orders, oversee the credit card program, and manage central receiving. Strong leadership, compliance knowledge, and strategic negotiation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field is required.
• Four years of experience in a purchasing department or related area is required.
• Preferred: Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
• Preferred: Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM).

Responsibilities

• Develop policies and procedures for obtaining supplies, equipment, and services; locate sources of supply and evaluate products and services for College use.
• Issue and administer purchase orders.
• Develop bid specifications and issue formal bid/proposal invitations; obtain informal bid quotations.
• Manage the College’s credit card program, including training staff and reconciling monthly statements.
• Oversee Records Management Program including storage facilities and retention schedules.
• Hire, train, evaluate, and develop team members; ensure timely reports and evaluations.
