Job summary

UMBC's College of Engineering and Information Technology, Shared Services Center seeks a Specialist to interpret university policies and procedures, resolve complex financial matters, and ensure compliant application of university, State of Maryland, and IRS guidelines.

The role offers hybrid telework, a starting salary of $57,000 with a potential to $64,500, and generous vacation plus tuition remission. It requires a bachelor’s degree and several years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Human Resources, or a related field.
• At least three years of experience in procurement, A/P, travel, and payroll.
• Proficiency in Excel, Office, and Google products.

Responsibilities

• Promotes operational compliance and strengthens understanding of university expectations for procurement, payment, reimbursement, and payroll activities across COEIT.
• Serves as an escalation resource for complex vendor inquiries, financial issues, and payroll situations.
• Collaborates with central offices to resolve issues and clarify requirements, and identifies opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and consistency.
• Provides continuity for critical business operations through designated payroll processing and/or approvals.
