The University of Maryland in College Park seeks a Payroll Coordinator to manage bi-weekly payroll, onboarding/offboarding and benefits for faculty, staff, students, and visiting scholars across the ECE department and affiliated programs.
The role requires in-person work and may involve visiting other locations; candidates must meet minimum qualifications and maintain compliant personnel records in accordance with regulations.
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing and monitoring of payroll appointments and benefits for faculty, staff, students, graduate students, and unpaid appointments within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and its subunits, including the Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS), the Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering Program at the University of Maryland at Shady Grove, and the University of Maryland at Southern Maryland Electrical Engineering Program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing bi-weekly payroll, onboarding and offboarding, and benefits processes for all employee types. The position will also maintain accurate personnel records for the department in compliance with all University, State and Federal regulations and record retention policies; establish working relationships with on-campus payroll and human resources departments; serve as a resource on payroll and benefits matters for faculty, staff and students; and handle visa processing for incoming and current visiting scholars.
