Job summary

LVI Associates is seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent for water/wastewater treatment construction and infrastructure projects in the New England area. The role focuses on sourcing materials, negotiating terms, issuing POs, and coordinating with project teams to keep work moving.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of construction procurement experience, strong vendor management skills, and the ability to interpret plans and specifications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience within construction.
• Experience with construction accounting, ERP, or project management software is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, submittals, and equipment requirements.
• Experience negotiating supplier agreements, commercial terms, and delivery commitments.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Procure construction materials, permanent equipment, rental equipment, and outside services
• Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders throughout the project lifecycle
• Solicit and evaluate quotations from suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, warranties, and delivery schedules
• Purchase mechanical, electrical, piping, and process-related equipment
• Coordinate procurement needs with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams
• Track long-lead items and address manufacturing or delivery risks
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and procurement requirements
• Confirm purchased materials and equipment meet project and municipal requirements
• Maintain vendor relationships and identify new supplier partnerships
• Monitor material pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Resolve invoice discrepancies, shipping problems, and procurement changes
• Maintain purchasing logs, delivery schedules, and procurement reports
• Work with accounting to reconcile purchase orders, invoices, and receiving records
• Support estimating teams with supplier pricing, lead times, and market feedback
• Ensure procurement activities comply with contract requirements and internal policies
