Job summary

Long Beach City College seeks a Supervisor, Purchasing and Contracts to lead district-wide purchasing, contracts, bids, RFQ and RFP activities in compliance with laws and policies. This role oversees staff, ensures proper bidding processes, and maintains procurement standards across the campuses.

Required is a bachelor’s degree and three years of purchasing or contracts experience, with one year in a lead role; a CA driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, public administration, paralegal studies, or a closely related field.
• Three years of increasingly responsible experience in purchasing operations and/or developing and administering public agency contracts, with one year in a lead role.
• Valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability.
• Experience in an academic setting is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day purchasing and contract operations, including competitive bidding and public works.
• Coordinate and ensure compliant execution of purchase orders, contracts, RFQ, and RFP.
• Lead, train, and evaluate professional, technical, and clerical staff.
• Develop, implement, and maintain districtwide purchasing policies and procedures.
