Halifax County Government seeks a Medical Records/Appointment Unit Clerk to preregister patients, verify and update demographics, and collect insurance and financial information. The role includes obtaining copies of patient identification and scanning documents into the EHR.
You will also prepare and mail medical records under a valid Release of Information and assist with scheduling appointments. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to relate to patients and staff
This position will cover duties in the Medical Records/Appointment Unit. The primary duties of this position include preregistering patients, verifying and updating patient demographic information, collecting, and entering all insurance and financial information, along with obtaining copies of patient phone identification. Other responsibilities include retrieving and scanning all patient information into the patients EHR and preparing and mailing copies of all medical records for which there is a valid Release of Information, assisting with scheduling patient appointments and directing incoming calls to appropriate personnel and performing other duties as required.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience. Prefer applicants with strong verbal communication skills and personal computer knowledge and experience. Also, the ability to maintain patient confidentiality; relate and communicate with patients, staff, and people from all socio-economic groups and backgrounds.
